Mr. Maingi has been lecturing, mentoring and doing research at Strathmore University for over 2 decades, being among the founding faculty of Strathmore University.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Egerton University, Njoro, Kenya; A Master of Science Degree in Information Systems from the University of Nairobi; and is a Doctoral Fellow at Strathmore University’s School of Post-Graduate Studies where he is completing his Ph. D. in Informatics (Epidemiology and Disease Modeling).
Mr. Maingi is also the founding Director of the HP-Strathmore Research Laboratory (popularly referred to as the HP Lab), a novelty lab that focuses on catalyzing the development of various local and home-grown solutions for various industries.
HP Lab brings together faculty, students and the industry in a catalytic and innovative environment in order to coin dynamic and incremental solutions to our various challenges.
Through HP Lab, Strathmore University has been able to bring on board working and collaborative partners such as the Hewlett Packard Inc. (HP Inc.), The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) and the Government of Kenya among others.
The lab continues collaboration and innovative research initiatives in collaoration with various entities, notably from the Government of Kenya such as the Ministry of Health through its various departments and divisions with remarkable success.
HP Lab continues its transofrmative and engaging agenda to keep bridging the academia-industry gap as we catalyse both faculty and students to undertake collaborative activities to keep the industry ticking.
