Dr Joseph Onderi ORERO is currently a Senior Lecturer (Artificial Intelligence), School of Computing and Engineering Sciences.

Dr Joseph Orero was the Dean, School of Computing and Engineering Sciences (formally Faculty of Infor mation Technology, FIT) from January 2014 up to December 2020. Before this appointment as Dean, he was the Associate Dean Faculty of Information Technology, Strathmore University.

Dr. Joseph Orero received his PhD in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) in 2011 from the University of Sorbonne, France. Joseph Orero graduated with a First Class Honors in Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenya. He holds a Master of Science in Information Technology Management from Sunderland University, UK. He is an alumni of Man’gu High School.

His current research interests revolve around intelligent systems and Machine Learning, specializing in Fuzzy Logic and machine emotional Intelligence (affective computing). In particular, he is focused on affective computing in design of intelligent health applications. He has coauthored several peer reviewed research publications in the area.
