
Lecturer
Danny earned his Doctor of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) degree from Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), South Africa in 2021. He holds a Master of Science degree in Computer-based Information Systems (MSc.CIS) from Strathmore University, Kenya (2015) and a Bachelor of Information Science degree from University of South Africa (UNISA) (2013). He has taught courses including Fundamentals of IT, Software Engineering, System Analysis and Design & Implementation, E-Marketing/electronic commerce, Information Systems Audit, Strategic Information Systems, and IT Project Management at both Undergraduate and Graduate levels. Prior to joining full-time teaching, Danny was the Faculty Administrator at the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) between 2006-2016. During this period, Danny successfully managed the administration of both undergraduate and graduate academic programs in the faculty (BBIT, BTC, BIF, MSc.IT, and MSc.CIS) respectively. Among key responsibilities undertaken include class time-tabling, course/program evaluation, attending to student issues, organizing FIT alumni events among other tasks.
Research Interests & Expertise/consultancy
Danny’s current research interests are in ICTD4 (Information & Communication Technology for Development), Information System Modeling and Design, Health care, Digital Health, Health Informatics, mHealth, Participatory Design, Service Design & Innovation, Project Management, and Software Engineering. He is an active member of the ICTD4 research group in the faculty.
He is currently involved as a core-principal investigator in a North-south and South-south collaboration research project on:
Person-centered information needs towards building resilient health systems for health security: a decolonizing situational perspective.
The project involves a number of countries including UK, South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria respectively. He also does consultancy on e-Health and software engineering projects.
He is also, a reviewer of ICMHI (International Conference of Medical and Health Informatics) conference papers. Among publications reviewed include the following:
