Q-SOLVE Kenya 2026 is a three-day quantum innovation hackathon bringing together 45 participants in interdisciplinary teams to explore how emerging quantum technologies can contribute to sustainable development in Africa. Hosted at Strathmore University from 1–3 September 2026, the programme brings together students, recent graduates and early-career professionals for hands-on learning, collaboration and innovation.

Participants will work across three challenge areas aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, exploring quantum applications in agriculture and food systems; SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, focusing on quantum chemistry and health-related challenges; and SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, examining opportunities in fintech and financial inclusion. Through expert talks, mentorship and collaborative problem-solving, teams will develop practical concepts, prototypes or research-informed solutions addressing real African challenges.

The hackathon is hosted by Strathmore University, co-hosted by the University of Nairobi, and supported by Microsoft and the Open Quantum Institute at CERN. Q-SOLVE provides an opportunity for participants to explore the emerging field of quantum computing, build interdisciplinary networks and contribute to conversations around the future of technology and sustainable development.
